Greene’s Garage, 1 Storer St., Kennebunk, began its operations in 1930, at its present site, as Kennebunk Motor Sales, Inc. by E. C. Snowdon and Ralph Greene. Harrison Coleman of Coleman’s Gulf Station joined the organization in 1931. In late 1932, Snowdon and Coleman left to start Snowdon Motors as a Plymouth franchise. The original Kennebunk Mo tor Sales building was formerly Pat Berry’s Sales Shop special izing in wagon and car paint ing. The business moved to a different location at the Atlas Transportation Co., formerly Chet Littlefield’s Garage on the State Road in 1933. .It moved back to its present location at 1 Storer St. in 1938 and has operated there ever since. It continued to be known as Ken nebunk Motor Sales until ap proximately 1940 when it adopt ed its present name of Greene’s Garage. The original building was us ed until 1950, at which time the old Berry Paint property was torn down and a new building erected on the same site. Ralph Greene died in August 1944. Roger Gonneville came out of the service in October, 1944, and joined Mrs. Almena Greene, Ralph’s widow in part nership. They have continued to operate as partners to this day. Gonneville first joined the organization as a salesman in 1939. It was in January, 1939, that Alton Hutchins, the present service manager, also joined the staff.
