‘Freeze-Out Deadlocks Score in Last Half; Overtime Nets Gallup 1 Point Lead A field goal by George Avila last night gave Sacred Heart a one-point overtime victory over Farmington's undefeated high school basketball team at Sacred Heart high school gym here. With the score deadlocked at 13 all as the fourth quarter gun spoke, Clarke of Farmington came back to toss a free throw and Avila countered with his field goal to make the score 15-14. From the start, both teams played a freeze-out game, concentrating on their defense. The first quarter was scoreless; Farmington netted 2 points in the second and the half was tied at 8 points. The victory for Sacred Heart evened the season for the two teams. The Gallup team lost to Farmington in their first encounter at Farmington early in the season 25 to 18, Sacred Heart girls turned in a 10-8 victory over the Farmington Misses in the preliminary. The girls game was one of the fastest played in Gallup courts for some time. High scorers for the boys game were ‘Arlen, for Farmington ‘with “4 field goals; and Avila for Sacred Heart with 3 field goals and no free toss, Avilana Garcia was high scorer for the girls game.
