Noo handsome piF wz! quite the very HER, here once lived four pretty gold-fishes They were not just plain, ‘ordinary old-fishes—dear mie, nh! They were gorgeous by gold-fishes with long ‘villy tails and great splashes of bril liant color on their bodies. And they knew how handsome and admired they were too! As they swam around in the fish-bowl, making eraceful circles as they went, they said to each other “How lucky these people who own us are! Without us its corner of the room would be ti and gloomy. But our bright, ashing bodies make it look cheerful and pleasant!”All of which was per ectly_trie. But after a while they grew tired oo singing their own praises. It is tiresome to say over and over agai that one is the most wonderful an d beautiful creature in the world (es pecially if no one disputes the fact iu the gold-fish all agreed) and they began wishing for things. “I do wish” said the biggest, frillies, cold-fish, “that we had a castle in our bowl It's all very well to have a new style bowl, and I must say that I ad mire the painted flowers on the sides, but I want a vock castle in the bot om of the bowl—one just like we lad at the store—and I shall not be happy till I iave it.” * The two middle-sized gold-fishes opened their mouths to say a great lit “Yes” and they added, “We will be happy either till we have a cas tle in the bottom of our bowl!” Oh,dear,” sighed the little tiny d-fish, duss at Mikes “aoeeA ing bu ea and there are plenty cats in the bowl now. Why not wish for sunshine? ‘If only We could Be in the sunshine we could be happy. “Sunshine!” see the biggest gold-fish. “That's ‘a ‘silly wish!’ ‘Sunshine!” taunted the middle- siz ed gold-fishes. “Who cares about sun shine?” So the littlest gold- fish kept very still and the three other gold-fishes moped and fretted and nobody had one bit of happiness. Finally one day, the lady who own ed the gold-fishes looked at them thoughtfully. “There” seems to be something the matter with these gold fishes,” she said. “I don't believe this corner agrees with them. I think I will try them by the dining room win dow where the sun*shines all the day.” So she put them in the*sunshine. And would you believe it? Immedi ately those moping gold fish began to feel better. Even the biggest one, who usually disdained to speak to the lit tlest one, said pleasantly, “I think af ter all your wish was better than mine Sunshine is lots more fun than cast les! And they all four lived happy ever after—in the sunshine, . Immediately those moping goldfish began to feel better
