Now, I hope that the-taxpayers will look carefully into' this matter and if they are in favor- of good roads urge the building of'the same. The good roads association of the four counties of JBingham,^ Jefferson, Madison and Fremont, as no doubt the taxpayers are aware, are working with the state highway commission and county commissioners for the construction of the Yel lowstone highway along1 therlinc o/ the Oregon Short Line. The r State of Idaho will furnish one dollar to the county’s two. dollars for the construction - of said highway. They hope to be able ^to build the road early this coining springs * After the same has been constructed under the supervision of the state engineer, state highway commission and county commissioners; it will be accept*-ed by the state highway commission and maintained by them, thus giving us» one highway which is so much needed through the valley, a road with natural drainage and direct route and as it follows the course, of the prevailing winds, it will* mot be covered with snow drifts, which is a very important feature, and, we are very glad tosee, that the people of the four counties are behind the movement. The above bonds mentioned could run at least for twenty yeari§and; then they could be reissueg so-thaf all we would have to pay/w.ould.bc the interest, and the/, taxpayers would not only save the principal in twenty years1,- but UicyAyouUV hlso have the use of the roads forrlwenT. ty—years,* then- they could rebound • .
