MOKENA - An intensive search that cowed some five square miles for a light airplane that was believed to have crashed west of here and between U.S. 30 andFrancis Rd occupied police and firemen Tuesday afternoon and half of the night last weekOn Wednesdaysnowmobiles joined the huntbut no wreckage has beenfound.Mokena Police Chief Wavne Ryder and two men: three policemen from New Lenox, including Chief Joseph Wajchert; three members of the county police and four state troopers, as well as a quartet of Mokenafiremen, who also had asnowmobile began the searchshortly after 2 o'clock Tues-dav afternoon. A plane fromFrankfort airport also joined the search. Three telephone calls from three women living west of Mokena launched the hunt. Each of the threeinformants told of seeing a dark colored plane - from the description a Piper Cub — flying low and circling. They said the engine was sputtering and finally be-using camedisappeared.One witness told searchersthat she believed the plane came down in the woods on the Oxo Hereford Farm.about three-quarters of amile west of Mokena.
