Rev. dr. Thompson to Conduct! Services for Pioneer Physician and Dentist. Funeral services for Dr. Jasper Blackwell, 36 years old, widely known pioneer resident of Joplin, will be held at 2:30 o’clock this aft ernoon at the First Christian church! The Rev. dr. 1. Thompson will officiate. Burial will be ih airview cemetery. ‘ The body will lie in state at the church from 1 o'clock until the time of the funeral. Pallbearers will ‘be Luther McGehee, W. Johnson, W. A. Nickell, J. M. Lane, O. P. Meloy and Robert Jefries, Come Here 54 Years Ago. Mr. Blackwell died at 11 o'clock Tuesday night at the home of his brother-in-law, Frank B. Cox, TOO North Mineral avenue. He came here from Tennessee, his native state, fifty-four years ago, and began practicing medi cine. He was married to Miss Sarah A. Cox, daughter of Judge John C. Cox, one of the founders of the city. In 1873. In 1887 he changed to the prac tice of dentistry, which he con tinued until he retired in 1914. He was a charter member of the First Christian church. Mr. Blackwell is survived by three nieces, one of whom is Mrs. Alice Poundstone Warren, 628 North Sergeant avenue, and one nephew. Mrs. Blackwell died in 1918 and a son, Walter, died In 1910, ‘
