Brother ton was born in Michigan Jan, 12, 174S, When six years old he moved with his parents to Cottage Mill, Dubuque county Iowa, lie lived there till he was 14 years old when he moved to Hampton, Iowa, and stayed until he was 21, when he returned to Cottage Hill where he remained a couple of years.H e was married to Abbie Hampton at Hampton, la. and there was bdhi to them two sons. For some reasons that are not all known the marriage did not prove to be harmonious and the unpleasantness resulted finally in their separation, after which he located at Brush Creek.Eight years ago the 24th oflast Juno he was married to Minnie Moine with whom he has lived in harmony and love until his descase. About three years ago his health began to fail; he having some treacherous stomache trouble. Two years ago he, with his wife who was also in poor health wont to Kansas hoping they both might recover but the change did not have the wished for result. They returned to Brush Creek last fail, he being much worse. His disease culminated in the quick consumption and last Monday, Feb, 15, 1S92, at 12:30 he passed away, after much severe suffering.He was a man of the best of habits and of a kind disposition. Since he was 17 yrs. old he has been a member of the M, E. church. lie leaves a sick and afflicted wife, two sons, three sisters and three brothers to mourn his loss. But what is their loss is his gain, “These light afflictions which are but for a moment wotketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”The funeral took place Wednesday, at 11 o’clock A. M, from the residence of-Mrs. Brotherton’s father, John Moine, at which place he spent his last days and finally passed away, The services were conducted by Rev. W, W.
