Edmund MeheganEdmund Mehegan, 46, of Des Plaines, a design and layout artist for Rand McNally Co., with 20 years of service, died Friday evening in Holy Family Hospital. Des Plaines, apparently from injuries sutained when he was struck by an eastbound Chicago and North Western Ry. commuter train as he tried to cross the tracks at the Pearson Street crossing in Des Plaines.He was born in Boston, Mass., July 5, 1929. and had resided in Des Plaines for 15 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the' Korean Conflict; a member of the Riverview Civic Assn.; St. Stephans Mini Parish, and was an active worker in the Des Plaines Boy Scouts of America Unit. - .Visitation is today from 3 to 9:30 p.m. in Oehler Funeral Home. Lee and Perrystreets. Des Plaines.A funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Stephan Catholic Church. 1267 Everett St., Des Plaines. Burial will be in All SamtsCemetery, Des Plaines.He is survived by his widow. Darlene, nee Huhtala. a longtime Des Plaines reporter. who has covered Des Plaines City Hall for the Des Plaines Journal for seven years: three children. Estelle, Matthew and Martha, all at home: a sister, Mrs. Eileen Hanson of Denver, Colo., and two brothers, John of Boulder, Colo., and Paul of California.Family requests Mass offerings preferred.
