Two East Beckley juveniles one 12 years old and the other 15 —have admitted the Wednesday break-in and attack upon Milburn “Cabbagehead’’ Meador, about 65, who resides near the Beckley Dump at Piney Gorge, according to State Police. Police said the youths were picked up at school this morning and admitted stealing $400 in non-negotiable postal savings cer tificates. The youths first said they had thrown the certificates in a creek, later, however, they were discove beneath some litter in Meador’s shack. The second youth at first refused to commit himself in connection with the theft, police said, how ever he finally admitted his part in the crime. One of two shot guns taken from Meador’s shack has been recovered. The two youths have been charged with felonious assault and and entering and are scheduled for hearings Saturday before Raleigh County Juvenile Court Judge Harry L. McCreery. Meador, who lives like a hermit maintaining winter quarters in a cave and summer quarters in a shack he built himself, told po lice that the youths took the postal certificates and two shotguns about 1 p.m. Wednesday. _ He said when he approached the youths he was shot in the left side of the face and the right collar bone. Police said the wounds ap peared to have been made by an air pellet gun of the ‘‘pump-up” type. Each youth blames the other for the shooting, but it is reported both took shots at Meador. Meador, who reportedly refused medical treatment Wednesday, was taken to the Beckley Mem orial Hospital at noon Thursday where he was released after hav ing his wounds cared for. Violation Charged James Roles, Route 1, Mount ‘Hope, was lodged in the Raleigh County Jail at 3:15 a.m. today on a charge of parole violation. He was arrested by Parole Officer Charles Honeker and Raleigh County Deputy Sheriff Fred Thorne.
