He came with his parents to Indiana in an early day. He was unit* ed in marriage to Rebecca J. Mills May 11, 1856, to this union were born nine children, seven of whom are still living. His wife died December, 1877. He was again married in 1879 to Catharine Geim; by this union one child was born, a daughter who died four years ago. He leaves a wife, seven children, two step-chtldren, four brothers and a host of relatives and friends to mourn. At his country’s call bo enlisted in Company K. Eighty-ninth Regiment. Indiana Volunteer Infantry. At the close of the war he was honorably discharged. He was converted- in early life and joined theUnited Brethren church. After the ' g class to which he belonged disbanded ! he nevod identified himself with any j (church, but lived a consistent life. Iloved and respected by all who knew ' vhim and when the Master called, he;;-said that lie was ready to go. The:!t funeral was hold at Pleasant Valley s church February 2. Nearly 400 of his neighbors and friends wore In attendance.
