MH*.At a meeting of the oltisens of Plainfield, the two following pets of resolutions were adopted touching the death of Jeremiah Evarts, and the oootinu-anee of the business by his son:RESOLUTIONS OP CONDOLENCE.Whereas, In view of the loss we have sustained by the decease of our friend and associate, Jeremiah Evarts, and of the still heavier loss sustained by those who were nearest and dearest to him, therefore be it Resolved, That It is but a Just tribute to the memory of the departed to say, that in regretting his removal from our midst, we mourn for one who was in every way, worthy of our respect and regard Resolved, That we sincerely condole with the wife and son of the deceased, on the dispensation with which it has pleased Divine Providence to afflict them, and commend them for consolation to Him who orders all thingsfor the best, and whose chastisements are meant for mercy.Resolved, That this heartfelt testimonial of our sympathy and sorrow., bo forwarded to the wife and son of our departed friend, by the secretary of this meeting.RESOLUTIONS OF CONFIDENCE.Whereas, The business interests of Rlainfleld have suffered a most severe loss by the untimely demise of our worthy associate, Jeremiah Evarts, and Whereas, His business will naturally fall into the hands of his son, John 1. Evarts, therefore be it Resolved, That we, the business men and citizens of Plainfield, do most earnestly de-of The Isire to retain Mr. John I. Evarts as ourbanker, in view of his integrity as a business man, and the welfare of our town, and that we pledge to Mr. Evarts our undivided support, and implicit confidence in his business.The above was signed by ninety-five merchants and citizens.T R.
