DR. A. J. BUCHER SURPRISEDDr. August J. Bucher, editor of The Christian Apologutt, was the happy victim of alittle surprise held at the Book Concern, Tuesday, February 7, in honor of his seventy-first birthday anniversary. Dr. and Mrs. George C. Douglass and Dr. Paul F.Douglass were hosts and hostess at a dinner for Dr. Bucher in which the staff of The Apologete and the Cincinnati Editionof The Christian Advocate participated.Dr. Bucher, who is now the senior editor at Cincinnati in point of age and of service, carries his years with his accustomed vim and vigor. He is not only a brillianteditor, but a poet, a splendid preacher, afine pianist, and vocalist. He finds time in his busy life to serve as president of theboard of trustees of Bethesda Hospital, and is continually, like his Master, “going aboutdoing good.”Dr. and Mrs. 0. W. Fifer; Dr. Adam J.Loeppert; of Chicago; Dr. Bucher’s niece, Mrs. Lydia Huber, and Dr. and Mrs. Christian Baumann were honored guests atthe birthday feast.
