Last fall Claude Edwards of Po mona came to Corona and establish ed the Alpha Beta Store, No. 11. It is a sort of cash-and-carry proposi tion:' The’ goods are usually done up in packages and labeled, so that one may begin at the first of the alpha bet, and go down the line. By the time he gets down to the “Z’s he is at the end of the line and needs a wheelbarrow and a new check book. About a month ago, Dan Cupid happened along to do a little shop ping. He didn’t see any hearts listed in the store ads but he thought he would go in and give the emporium the once over anyhow. He did, and took a fancy to a certain package, being particularly interested In the goods listed under the “H’s.”” He met Elsie and she was his'n. So Elsie Ed wards married James Karaya and Dan Cupid went home thinking he had done a good day's work. “They always come back,” says Claude Edwards, in speaking of Al pha Beta customers. 'And THEY did come back. THEY staged such a comeback that Claude was floored. On the second shopping tour ,Dan Cupid looked Claude over and decid ed to take a chance on him even though there was no price mark‘on him. So Claude married Miss Ruth Norwalt this morning. On that same tour Dan Cupid de cided to look over the “R's” and at the same hour this morning when Claude was marching down-or-up the aisle, we don’t know— one Ray Casey who has charge of a depart ment in the Alpha Beta store, mar ried Miss LaVonne Pierce. That's a record of. three within’ e month.. For dispensing hearts it is believed that is a record for.any one store in Corona.
