“OUR HATS OFF,” SAYS EDITORIAL IN UNIVERSITY PUB LICATION. “Our Hate Off” is the head of an ed itorial in the Austin Daily Texan in which they refer to the trip to Aus tin Sunday morning by students of the Texas Agricultural and Mechan ical college when the big Texas steer was branded with the score of the Ag nes-Longhorn's football game in 1915 when the former won. Texas university students had purchased the steer with the intention of branding him with the score of the 1916 Pigskin clash when Texas won. Following is from the Texan: “Regardless of who branded the Longhorn steer 18 to 6, it is done. We must confess that the joke is on us, and the only way to maintain our rec ord for clean sportsmanship is to wait our time to even things up down at College Station next season. We hope that the steer recovers from the -inch imprint, reminding us of that unevent ful Friday, and only wish that much of our talk of public branding had been put into actual practice. “Since the animal cost the student body of the University of Texas £ 18 per month to feed, and since he no longer resembles a speciment of which we could justly be proud, why should not the assembly order him shipped C . D. to College Station, with a price of 21 plus 7, or $28 attached? This seems the only logical procedure, un like we butcher the brute.”
