Herman Yoder Passes Away at Elkhart— Mrs. Ternow to be Buried Here— Other Deaths. From Thursday's Daily Times. Thomas B. Starr died about 7:00 o'clock last evening at his residence on Sixth street, after a long illness of con sumption. The deceased was in the fifty-fourth year of his age and had been a resident of Goshen since 1867. He leaves his wife and two sons to mourn his death. Thomas B. Starr was born in Wil liams county, Ohio, and when a youth learned the printer’s trade. On reach ing Goshen he accepted a position in the office of the Goshen Times which was then owned by his brother, Wil liam Starr, who died suddenly in Kan sas two years ago. In 1880 Thomas B. and Watt Starr opened a job printing establishment in this city and about four years later sold out to Thomas A Starr, of the Goshen News. A short time later Watt Starr died and Thomas B. Starr established Starr’s Fruit Store associating with him S. F. Poorman and continued in this business up to the time of his death. In 1873 Thomas B. Starr was united in marriage to with Miss Hetty Plat tenburg who survives him. They had born to them four children, two daugh ers and two sons. The sons, Platte and Samuel, survive. Thomas B. Starr is the last of his family. He was a cousin of Thomas A., Martin V. and Charles L. Starr, of this city. De ceased was a plain, blunt man, honest and upright in his dealings and re spected by a large circle of friends. The bereaved family and relatives have the sympathy of Goshen people. The funeral will occur at the family resi dence at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morn ing, Rev. F. W. Goodman, of the St. James church, officiating. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Tornow, formerly of Goshen, but now of Greentown, Ind., will be pained to learn of her demise which occurred yesterday afternoon after several days’ illness. An infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Tornow died the first of the week when only a few days old, it being the fourth child they have buried. The deceased was thirty-seven years of age and while she resided in Goshen was loved by a host of friends and acquaintances. The remains will arrive in Goshen to morrow afternoon and the funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the First Methodist church, Rev. A. S. Preston officiating. Upon the arrival of the remains in this city they will immediately be con veyed to the home of John Drake, 613 South Seventh street. Harmon Yoder, aged 61 years, died this morning at his home in Elkhart of hemorrhage of the lungs. The de ceased formerly resided three miles east of Goshen. He leaves a wife but no children. The funeral will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning from the residence interment on the Elk hart prairie. Maurice Eaton, aged forty-four years, died yesterday afternoon at the home of his brother near Dunlops, of con sumption. The deceased was an un married man and two brothers survive him. The funeral will be held tomor row morning at 11:90 o’clock from the German Baptist church west of Goshen.
