Wooten Home On 25-Day FurloughJ. H, Wooten, ship's cook, 2/c, is at home for 25 days, after seeing much active duty in the South Pacific war theatre. He is wearing service ribbons of the Philippines, Saipan, Marshalls, Gilberts and North African campaigns and six major engagement stars. Wooten also has been awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded October 25, last year, while his ship was in an engagement with Japanese naval units near the Philippines, He suffered a punctured lung, bursted eardrum and several burns on the left side of his body,Wooten is a real war having first served 13 months in the Army in World War 1, later serving four years in the United States Navy. At the outbreak of the present conflict he went in the Navy. He is 49 years old and the father of six children.
