Had Resided Here Since in 1924, Formerly Was Contractor on Greene County Jobs Funeral services for Charles N. Lentz, who died February 9th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. P. B. Dunn, 1323 Tama street, were held at the Church of the Sacred Heart Saturday, February 12, 1944. Requiem high mass was solemnized by the Rev. Gerald Skahill and was sung by the school choir. Those serving as pallbearers were Robert Cantlin, A. J. Koeh ler, J. J. Sandon, Edward Rea, Charles McDermott, and Donald Lentz. Interment was made at Mount Calvary cemetery in Grand Junction, Iowa. Life Sketch The late Mr. Lentz was born April 10, 1857, at DeWitt, Iowa. When a young man he moved to Greene county, where he was married to Frances Crook. The family resided there until 1924, when they moved to Boone. Mrs. Lentz and one son, Joseph, preceded him in death. Surviving are four children: J. L. Lentz of Clinton, Iowa; Charles A. of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. P. B. Dunn of Boone and Mrs. Nelle DeWitt of Des Moines; two brothers, B. R. Lentz of Ogden, Iowa; and L. J. Lentz of Elma, Iowa, and one sis ter, Mrs. Mary McDermott of Tor onto, Iowa. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. All the children were present for the last rites ex cept Charles A. Lentz, who was unable to attend. Those Attending Among those attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Lentz and son, Donald, of Elma; Charles McDermott of Toronto; Mrs. John Cessna of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Lawler and daughter, Vera, of Ogden; Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Vaughan of Ogden; Mrs. Edward Burnett and daugh ter, Bernadine of DeWitt; Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Lentz and daughters, Jane and Ellyne of Clinton. The deceased suffered a hip in jury three years ago which great ly impaired his health and death followed a three weeks serious illness. His early years were spent as a building contractor in and around Greene county and other localities. For many years, he al so served as town assessor at Grand Junction. The late Mr. Lentz will be greatly missed by his family and many friends in Boone and Greene counties.
