It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Pelechaty on February 3, 2017 at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre at 80 years of age. Ed was born on September 25, 1936 in Ethelbert, MB to Roy Lena (Buyar) Pelechaty Ed joined the RCMP in April 1958 in Regina and retired in Dauphin in 1988. All of his postings with the RCMP were in D Division (MB) except for two years on the Musical Ride. Ed loved the Saskatchewan Rough Riders. Left to mourn his loss is his wife Grace; son Mike of Barrie, ON; daughter Traci Cochrane of Wasaga Beach, ON; grandchildren Kayla Chiasson (Shaun), Matthew Pelechaty, Alexis Cochrane; four great grandchildren, Lucas, Matty, Corbin, Lucy Chaisson; step children Scott (Michelle) Gaber of Winnipeg, MB, Mike (Krista) Gaber of Gilbert Plains, MB; step grandchildren Riese, Paige Adam Gaber; sister Edith Phiefer of Saskatoon, SK; sister in-law Beth (Peter) Goba of Roblin, MB; friend Luanne Pelechaty; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Ed was predeceased by his parents Roy Lena (Buyar) Pelechaty. At Ed's request there will be no formal service. Interment will follow at a later date if friends so desire donations in memory of Ed may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba. Our dear Dad, Ludger Joseph Arthur Farand, peaceful ly past away on February 4th, 2017 at the Gilbert Plains Care Home at the age of 90 years. Dad is survived by his wife Pearl (nee Solomon) of 62 years of marriage, and children Philip, Richard (Donna), Denis (Stella), Patricia, Joan (Leo) Clarkson, Jennifer (Blair) Huddlestone, and Jason. Dad also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Shaunna, Bradly, Grant, Ashley, Jeff, Brett, Britney, Joshua and Luke; great grandchildren Shaun, Hailey, Lilly, Georgie, Nicole, Teagan, Boddi, Abigail, Tajla, Owen and Darcy (cont’d next column) Obituaries Dad loved his wife and children, and he adored his grandchildren. Dad made every one in his presence feel special and loved. He made every effort to attend hockey games, Christmas concerts, and birthday parties. Dad was a hardworking man and did all he could to ensure his family was taken care of. He was a successful rancher and put all he could into raising his herd, he was especially fond of a cow named Charger . He was a commercial ice fisherman, trapper, and hunter. When he had some downtime, Dad loved to listen to Metis fiddling music and jig. In his retirement years, his favourite pastimes were tending to his garden, watching his apple tree blossom and grow, and sitting outside on his patio chair under the shade of his umbrella enjoying the summer warmth. Dad dedicated much time and effort to making Meadow Portage a better community for everyone. For many years he was a member of the Meadow Portage Community Council, he was mayor and fire chief. He spent many years sitting on the North ern Association of Community Councils, Dauphin Co-op Board of Directors, the Meadow Port age Catholic Church Committee, and the Knights of Columbus. Dad's ambition for improving and making a difference in the world was his passion. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Dauphin Friendship Centre 210 1st Ave. NE Dauphin, MB R7N 1A7. We would also like to make special mention of the wonderful and caring staff at the Gilbert Plains Care Home. Sneath-Strilchuk Dauphin Chapel 204-638-4110 www.sneathstrilchuk.com On the morning of February 8th, 2017, our mother, Mabel Rocknell (Charron) passed away at the age of 90 years at the Dr. Gendreau PCH in Ste. Rose du Lac. Mabel was born on April 11th 1926 to Earnest and Sarah Charron who lived in the Woodbend District in the McCreary municipality and it was there that she grew up and went to school. In 1944 she married the love of her life, Orville Rocknell, and moved to the Carrick District just a few miles north. She and Dad farmed and raised a family and remained there until 2009 when Dad passed away and Mom moved to Lorray Manor in Dauphin.
