This is an enormous project and they have helped tremendously/' said Philpott. But we still need lota of volunteers and tools. We need about $40,000 to reach our goal and we hope Fine's generous contribution will help encourage others to get involved/’ said Pinkston.Tugboat Island, designed by the same developers of Beaumont’s Imagination Station playground, will be built by volunteers wprking in an old *fashion “barn-raising method in two phases, March 22-24 and April 18-21.Johnson said the work will be split into three shifts with over 700 volunteers needed per shift“You don’t have to be a pro fessional contractor There's a job for everyone, even children, he saidWe chose the designers that we did because they specialize m designing this type of playground,” said Johnson. ‘'Everything is organized, even the finest details If someone loans us a hammer, we will list it in our book along with the owner’s name When a volun teer checks it out, we will know who has that hammer and once we finish work that day, the tools are gathered and locked away. When planning a project of this kind, the designers must consider safety, accessibility, coat, and the quality of building materials. They do this while keeping the children's ideas in mind. Such ideas include building a tugboat, lighthouse, shark and an industrial cityWe encourage everyone to come out and be a part of Tugboat Island, Johnson said. “It is not just a Port Neches project, it is a community project/*/
