OLD RESIDENT PASSES AWAY.Mrs. Cyrus U. Brooks, an old and highly respected resident of this corn munity, died at her home on N. W. Third Ave. Monday morning after many months of failing health.Mrs. Brooks, whose maiden name was Amelia Jane Miles, was born in New York City, September 7,1831, being at the time of her death aged 80 years, 5 months and 5 days. Mrs. Brooks is survived by her husband, three daughters and one son. The daughters are; Miss Rosa at home, Mrs. B. Cole and Mrs. Will Harris of this city, the son Roy, lives at Creston, la. M rs. Brooks was a most estimable and devout woman. For many years she was a member of the Congregational Church. Funeral services were held at the family residence this afternoon. The burial was in the Galva cemetery.Tuesday.Mrs. H. T. Franklin of Chicago has been visiting for several days with her parents Mr. and Mrs. W, A. Wedge, and Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Wilson also of Chicago were tbeir guests yesterday.Capt. A. E. White of Detroit, Mich., spent the latter part of the week at the home of W. A. Wedge.Met With Accident.*Mrs. Yokum, a nurse from Galesburg who came to assist in caring for Mrs. C II. Brocks, had the misfortune to fall clown three steps of the cellar stairs, fracturing one of her ribs and severely injuring her arm. The accident occurred Thursday evening.
