S.Littlefield left this oity on the 7.3o, i*. m.,train for Tallahassee. At Live Oak the sleeping car (in whieh Gen'l L. occupied a berth) was uncoupled from the train by five armed men (throe North Carolinians and two Floridians) who were waiting at Live Oak for the purpose of kidnapping (lend Littlefield. Ilis Honor Judge Long happened to be in the car, and with bis usual promptness, called upon the Sheriff of Suwannee County, who chanced to be present, to summon :ui armed /tuxsi and protect the General.
