At eight o'clock the company began to assemble, and continued to pour in in full tide up. to ten, when we should suppose the number present amounted to from three hundred and fifty to four hundred, amohg whom were many ladies of the more fashionable circles, several of the military, and most of the gentlemen of the v town. The Band of the JL N. Companies played an admirable selection of airs, and the dancing was kept up with rare spiiit and very rare pfcuses until a startling encrbachiOent had been mad* on the morning's light, when tin* gay rotaries of Terpsichore at last reluctantly pitrtbd, testifying in glotf ing terms their keen sense of the evening’*enjoyraent.
