Bold and artful achievement. A letter has been received by Mr. Weight man, of Fell's Point, from capt. Johnson, of the schooner 's'wo Margarets, of this port, giv ing an account of the capture of the schooner by a french privateer, and her subsequent re capture by himself The letter is dated as Gibraltar, November 24, 1809, and states, that on his passage from Malta to Bristol, he, on the 19th of October, came in sight of Cape Bon, when, it being calm, a French privateer soon rowed up with sweeps and captured the Two Margarets, putting 4 prize master and mate, with his men on board to carry her into port. When night came on it began to blow a gale, and the privateer parted from the schooner, the captain previously giving orders to the prize master not to permit captain Johnson to be on deck in the night, lest he should retake his ves sel. Aquad was placed over him, he was confined below, and threatened with death if he attempted to sure (Capt. J. had captain Bounds and his mate aboard going to Gibraltar.) On their first coming on board captain John son feigned himself sick, which lulled their suspicions asleep. So in the morning he was suffred to go on deck, and consulting with Mr. Whipey, about re-capturing the schooner, found that he would stand by him. Going down, he again came up muffled in his yrest coat, with a hatchet under it! Me first knock ed down the pize master, and leaving him to o, instantly dispatched the mate by repeated blows—both these being killed, the rest were intimidated, and captain Johnson gained command of his vessel. He made for Cagtiari, where he was obliged to perform a quarantine of 18 days; and three days after, procuring a crew, he sailed Nov. 19, in company with the British packet, but, losing her in hazy weather, and dreading French cruizers in the Streights, he made for Port Mahon, in Minorca. On the 20th he reached Gibraltar, where he was taking in provisions and repairing his sails, c. Balt Wi
