SHS and the Tiger Ray Staff are very pleased to welcome four student teachers to the Silsbee Independent School District. Presently from Woodville is Mr. Dan Utley, a history major at Lamar University. He is teaching under Mrs. Carole Seabrooke, A graduate of the University of Texas, Mr. Utley had previously planned to en ter pre-law, but decided to get his teaching certificate instead. He taught one year at Wood ville Junior High School under an emergency certificate. Mr. Utely has been a very active worker in the Boy Scouts of America since obtaining the honor of Eagle Scout and has attended such activities as camp-outs and a Jamboree. Also practicing with the Sils bee system is Mrs. Kay Shaw, wife of Perry Shaw, of Kirby ville. They have two small chil dren. She is teaching under Mrs. Jimmie Gowling, a speech therapist at several of the Sils bee schools. Mrs. Shaw is a student at Lamar. In the English department under Mrs. Jo Ann La Toof is Mrs. Janie Meigs, wife of Mr. Bobby Meigs, who teaches V.O.E at SHS. They have two children, Jody, who is a sopho more, and Jill, a seventh-grad er. An English education major at Lamar, Mrs. Meigs also en joys Spanish. Another history major is be coming acquainted with this area. He is Mr. Joseph Crews from Woodville. Presently a student at Lamar, Mr. Crews is working with Mr. James Mel drum in the afternoon. He is also a policeman in Woodville.
