Lewis Ellzey Washington Passed Away TuesdayMr. Lewis Ellzey Washington died Tuesday morning at the home of his son, E. M. Washington, in this city after an illness of a couple of weeks. The funeral was held at the M. E. church south, Wednesday at 11 o’clock and was conducted by Rev. E. Thurston Campbell, after which the body was shipped to Portland, Mo., for interrment. The! remains were escorted from the residence to the church and from there to the depot by the Masons of Hol-denville and by a number from Lamar, where the deceased lived for some time. The following obituary was read during the funeral services at the church:“Lewis Ellzey Washington was born near Lexington, Ky.. Aug. 12, 1836, died in Holdenville, Okla., Feb. 3, 1914, at 7:35 a. m.; aged 78 years, 5 months and 22 days, tie was educated at Central College, Fayette, Mo.; was married to Miss Marion Bryan on Dec. 27th 1874. To this union was born six children, three boys and three girls. One daught« r died when about 14 months old, five children surviving. In early life he gave himself to Jesus, uniting with the Presbyterian church, in which he lived a faithful member until he came to Oklahoma five years ago, when he united with the M. E.church, soath. He was a member of*the Masonic lodge and the A. () U.W.—Holdenville Democrat.
