REPORT OF FINANCE COMMITTEE. COUNCIL CHAMBER, February 9, 1857. _ HE Finance Committee beg to report, that they have investigated the liabilities of the city for the fiscal year ending Dec. 12th 1857. They also deemed it impor tant that the Council and the citizens should know the full extent of her entire liabilities, and whatever assets she may hold to meet them, and we have embraced the amount of her bonds issued, vne this report. They do not regard the estimates set down as being in all respects, correct and reliable, but it approximates*as ‘near the facts as they could ascertain from the records of Council: Contract with Horace King, passed April 21, 1856, for covering Bridge.........$ 650 00 Contract with Asa Bates, passed June 24, 1856, for repairing Bridge Piers 800 00 $1,450 00 725 00$725 00 of which there has been paid...... To the Gas Light Co. $100 000, payable in 1873. To the Muscogee Railroad, (onpaid) $100,000, falling on in sums of $25,090 each year, from 1857 to 1850, in clusive. RECAPITULATION. Patten Mustian, and under the contract with them, they are to meet the Bonds of the City and interest on them, as they fall due. 74 The Commitee suggest the propriety of having this re port published in the city papers in the event of its recep tion by Council.
