Weighty topic for Westchester Juniors Feb. 13Ladies who wish to learn to take off extra pounds sensibly are invited to attend the meeting of Junior Woman’s Club of Westchester at 8 p.m. Thursday, February 13. Rohde Unit #888, A-merican Legion Auxiliary, are asked to participate in the group’s current coupon drives, according to chairman Mrs. Gertrude Garvey. .Coupons from Perk and Peak dog food will be used toward the purchase of seeing-eye dogs for blind veter-~ans, for training of leader dogs for the blind, and for round-trip air fare for a visually handicapped student to attend the leader dog training center. The coupons will also help towards room and board for the student during the 4-week training session.Betty Crocker and other coupons are ’also being used for special projects of the department president.Series about breastfeedingThe Westchester chapter of La Leche League will meet on Wednesday, February 19 at 8:30 p.m. in the home of Mrs. Dian Brennan, 4842 Hawthorne, Hillside.This is the second in a continuing series of four meetings on the different phases of breastfeeding. At last year’s drawing the club, withthe contributions of organizations and individuals, was able to purchase and plant 11 maple trees. All were planted on the parkways.The project is designed to replace trees which have died from the Dutch elm disease or other afflictions, and to plant trees in areas where there never have been trees. Westchester has no village reforestation program at present.With the latest donation received from the WestchesterLions and the $100 the Westchester Juniors have added, the fhnd has grown to more than $200 this year. Mrs. Richard Dolnics, die club’s conservation chairman, is again urging contributions from local organizations and from interested individuals. The number of trees given away will be dependent upon the a-mount Jn the find at the time of the drawing. The trees will be planted during spring by a local nursery and will be guaranteed for one year. The drawing will take place on Thursday, March 13 at the regular meeting of the club.Residents of Westchester or business establishments in the community who would like to be in the drawing for a free tree should send a postcard with their name, address and phone number. to the Junior Woman’s Club of Westchester, P.O.
