Bradford Council Author izes Execution of Pact for Project Bradford City Solicitor Francis M. Nash has forwarded to the Civil Aeronautics Administration in Washington certificates of purchase of all lands on the Mt. Alton air port site, widely the city of Brad ford has agreed to sponsor end to which McKean county has given $24,277.60 in payment for lands pur chased. Titles have been cleared to com ply with the requirements of the Federal and state authorities. Nash sid, Wash presented to council his let ter to the McKean county commis sioners, acknowledging receptio of the sum for payment to the Bing ham Petroleum Corporation, the South Penn Oil Company, Erie Rail road, a church job and Anna Gates for purchase of their properties which will be used for airport pur poses. The following amounts are being paid to the various firms and per sons Involved: Bingham Corpora tion, $16,148; South Penn $1,612.60; Erie Railroad $250; clearch lot 1$2,500 and Anna Gates $3,769.20. A resolution adopted by council authorized Mayor Hugh J. Ryan and City Clerk Millard Cornelius to execute the agreement, which re serves the mineral rights to proper ty in LaFayette township, formerly owned by the Binghamton concern and now part of the airport site. The agreement stipulates that drilling on land adjoining the air port property must be not more than 259 feet south of the boun dary. Other stipulations state that the surface of the land must be smooth, there must be no projections above the ground, drilling must be done before construction of the airport, no drilling can be done on land un der deed except that whic is cov ered under the mineral right grant ,and drilling can be done by on permission by the city for the Civil Aeronautics Administration. Regarding abandonment of wells, the terms of the agreement require that holes be plugged and the sur face be restored to its original state. Purchase of the Bingham proper ty was carried out through the City’s ‘Airport Committee headed by Ralph Zook, prominent local oil producer.
