Atlanta, Feb. 9—Former Gover nor EB. D. Rivers and seven others under indictment on graft charges were slated yesterday for trial on March 3 in Fulton superior court Rivers and five others will face a jury first on the indictment, re turned in December, alleging vio lation of the state purchasing act in giving preference to D. B. Bla lock and the Blalock Machinery Equipment Company in state purchases. His co-defendants in this case are J. G. Glover, former chief of state convict forces; W. W. Willis former assistant state purchasing agent; O. G. Glover, former state purchasing agent; Geo. C. Blount, former state highway maintenance engineer, and Blalock. The ex-Governor will be de fended by Attorneys John Dennis and H. A. Allen, while Blalock's counsel will be Marion Smith. Also placed on the calendar for the same day were the cases of J. K. Hall, Macon oil salesman, accused of attempting to bribe H. Carson Smith, the present state purchasing agent, and of Fred Scott, of Thomasville, charged with conspiracy to defraud the state and bribery. Scott is a former mem ber of the state licensing board for contractors. Another charge against Rivers and J. G. Glover, alleging con spiracy, was put down the same day. The grand jury still is prob ing the previous administration.
