■TO HOLD INDOOR CIRCUS_Racine, rich In the tradition of circus performers, will see a revival of the spirit when an indoor circus is held at the Y. M. C. A. on Feb. 17 and 18, sponsors of theevent have revealed.One of America’s pioneer circus men was a Racine resident, anddown through the years the big canvas top has known many performers who called this city their home. Some of the more recent will live again the days of their youth when they take part in the event this month.Among these is Anton Kratoch-vil, well known Racine man, who was uni-cycle rider on a slack wire about 25 years ago. He had the only act of its kind at the time and traveled through many states. His partner for a time was Rudolph Keykal, another Racine resident w*ho lives at 614 Goold street.A Circus Pioneer.Probably the first and most noted among Racine circus men was Dan Castello, w’ho lived on Lake avenue between Tenth and Eleventh streets about half a centuryago. Mr. Castello started in the circus business with the famous P. T. Barnum. Inter the partnership broke up, Bailey joined with Barnum, and Castollo returned to Ra-| cine. Here he constructed a circular barn on the lake front, imported herds of wild horses fromtho west and trained them for all sorts of performance.
