J. M. Deeds, the artist who contracted the stage furnishings, settings and curtains of the opera-house when it was opened four years ago, is in the city and is rejuvenating the stage. Everything has been gone over new, and amongst the things which will soon greet theater goers will be a new front drop picturing a mountain scene, with advertisements of 22 local business houses bordering the painting. Other new stage fittings are: New grand drapery, tormentors, interior borders, fancy parlor, picture screen, foliage borders, garden drop, landscape drop, and (j wood wings. The street scene and kitchen set will be retained, as they are in good condition. Mr. Deeds has the reputation of being one of the host stage contractors in the northwest, and gives genuine value wherever he goes, with the result that he is always welcome back to the houses which he has furnished.
