“Dr. Calvin Bunch” and His Invention.The invculion of the well known *' Dr. Calvin Bunch ” of the Northern Indiana Penitentiary ha^ met with considerable consideration from the press for the past few day*. The “Doctor” Je * life time convict at the prison, and since his incarceration has occupied the position of hospital steward, front whence the professional gentlemen received his title of M. D He say* that he has been experiencing for a long lime in the interest of science, as well as for the people, and finally believes that the hopes have at last culminated in the grand success of hie life's hopes. In fact Calvin la jubilant, and is a bigger man than old ICdi-on. The invention like all modem patents is the discovery of a near light. It may be described as fuliuws. It consist* of an ordinary quinine bottle filled with water, through the stopper passes a tube of sufficient size to admit a c*nd!e wick, the said wick, being saturated with some chemical compound produces the illuminating qualities of the lamp, when lighted the lamp will bum about three days in which time the water will Km completely evaporated. The lamp is about equal to a common coal lamp. As Dr. Bunch'a facilities fur canvassing for the mew invention are some what restricted the aucceet of Edison's rival is somewhat doubtful.
