Local News.President Taft will pass thru Attica this morning at 8:46 o'clock—if the train is on time. His special car will be attacht to train No. 9, which will make the regular stops, altho there is little probability that the president; will be seen by anyone about the station. He is on his way to Springfield, 111., to participate in the celebration of Lincoln's birthday. At Decatur his car will be transferred to the irtterurban line and finish the journey that way, this being the first time in the . history of electric railways that the president’s car has been hauled over an intdrurban line. The President will return via the Wabash on Sunday morning, passing thru Attica on No. 28.In response to the offer made by the Hillsboro Hardware Co. that it would give a $50 kitchen outfit to the couple that would volunteer to be married on a platform in front of its store as a feature of the opening February 25th a young couple has been found willing to undergo the ordeal, altho their names fe being kept secret until the day arrives. Rev. Mr. Ingalls, the new Methodist pastor at Hillsboro, has consented to perform the ceremony.Over in Hoopeston, 111., the tax rate is $4.59 on the $100. Now that sounds awful as far as it goes even to our people who think they pay a plenty. But they assess the property in that county at one-third of its value which really makes the rate only $1.53.
