Mrs. Meier Dead.*Mrs. Sophia D. Meier died at the home of her daugh er, Mrs. Conrad Garland, last Saturday at 10am, of pneumonia. The funeral services at the Lutheran church were conducted by the Rev, H. Bredow at 11am Tuesday.Sophia D. Meier nee Wilkening was born at Bekedorf, Germany, August 4, 1814 and died in Sumner, Iowa, Febru-avy G, 1904, aged 89 years, 0 months and 1 day. In 1837 she married Henry Meier at her home injGermany. Her husband died in 1801. Seven children were born to them, two of whom are still living; Mrs. Conrad Garland of Sumner and Christ Meier of Minnesota.4 |In 1871 she came to America with herson Henry, who died G years ago atCrane Creek. Since that time she hasmade her home with Mrs. Garland %Her health had always been remarkably good, having had but one severe sickness, in 1885, when she lay for 13 weeks with inflamatory rheumatism. ; About three weeks ago she caught a heavy cold which developed pneumonia resulting in her death.She leaves twenty-one grandchildren and twenty five great-grandchildren to mourn her departure. She was interred in the Lutheran cemetery,
