'I1-'.-.JULIUS PARKER ARRESTED.Magnolia, Mias., Fob. 8.—Ju-(Hue Parker was arrested in Osy-ka yesterday by Mr. X. K. Ball, sheriff of this county, and is now in jail here. On December 8 last, it is alleged. hr went, with six others, to the residence of E. V. Preston, fcrcmnn of the Banner Lumber Company’s mills at Kentwood, L».f and ordered him to leave the state. The grand jury of Tangipahoa parish at its recent session indicted the entire seven men for conspiracy, nnd tho officers there (learning that Parker had removed to Osyka) sent the warrant for his arrest to Sheriff Ball la^t Saturday. He surrendered without resistance and said he would prefer to come to Magnolia than go to Amite City The bond required for his appearance at the next term of court is only $250, but, it 19 said, that he will be required to give an mi-additional bond of 81000 to keep tho peace. As previously stated in the Timos-Democrat, Mr. K. V. Preston temporarily went away from Kentwood nt tho time, on account of tho fears entertained for his safety by his wife and children, but returned in a few days, and the mills continued running as usual. These mills have run regularly for 313 days in the year ever since they were established and have not lost an hour by this disturbance. The sentiment of tho pul lie which for a lime seemed to be in a balance, is now decidedly in favor of the company, and the upright character of tho management of the Banner Mills is sufficient guaranty that tho confidence of tho people has boon well placed. —Special to Tho Times-Democrat.
