The Board of Visitors and Gover nors of St. John’s College, consisting of Major Sprigg Harwood, J. Schaaf Stockett, William T. Iglehart, Dr. George Wells, Dr. Wm. G. Ridout, and Dr. R. Chase Green, (who ought to be able to dissect the case, had a lively meeting last night in the presi dent’s room, over the cases of Messrs. Duvall and Will,the two students dis missed for bolting a professor out of his room in Pinkney Hall, a few nights ago. The two students were present and made statements. The proceedings were held with closed doors, and the particulars were not made public. It is said, however, of the number of trustees present, they were nearly evenly divided on the questions of sustaining the Faculty in their action. The difference between “dismissed” and “expelled,” was re viewed and discussed at length. It was stated that the conclusions of the trustees would first be submitted to the Faculty before making them pub lic. In the meantime the students believe the action of the board is fa vorable for them.
