Aug. 16, 1925 — Feb. 7, 2015 RALEIGH — Haskell Edward Owen Jr., 89, passed away Feb. 7, 2015. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Souls Funeral Home, Ridgeland, South Carolina, with visitation from 1 -2 p.m., prior to the service. The Rev. Thomas Terry will officiate. Burial will follow in Grimes Cemetery, Grays, South Carolina. He was born Aug. 16, 1925, to Dell Crosby Owen and Haskell Sr. in Jasper County, South Carolina. He is preceded in death by his son, Chip Ow en; three brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Leva, and daughter Cherry Hall, and her children, Barbara Hall, and her son, Jack, Betsy Webster, and her hus band, Kevin, and their son, Alex, Carter Hall and Brenna Hall; and his sister, Joan Owen. He graduated from Murray Vocational High School, Charleston, South Carolina. He was a WWII combat veteran on the Battleship U.S.S. Wisconsin in the Pacific. He served 38 years in the Freight Traffic De partment of the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad (Now CSX) throughout the Southeast. He en joyed many years of Bible study and time spent at his cabin in South Carolina. According to his wishes, there will be no ser vice in Raleigh.
