Lake Lefroy SaltProjectMr. I'hil Chunlcy. General Murrnper Director of Norseman Gold Mines N.l.. today amplified the comments made by his Chairman at the Company’* Annual General meeting held in Adelaide on February .•rj. company has reached agreement with Sumitomo Sho* ji Kuisha Ltd. on a joint venture The majority interest of 51 Kc will be held by the Australian company.The project is largely dcpcn dent on transport economics. Initially the export tonnages, planned to commence in the second half of I96K. would be in the order of 2(K).(KM) tons, but these are expected to rise to over 500.000 tons by I‘70 and possibly increasing later. Mr Charsley said rh.it progress has been made in his discussions with the Western Australian Government regarding rail and port faculties, including the connection of the present Fsperancc railway line to the land-backed wharf at Fsperancc Provision was made in the wharf for this during its construction. although the connection has not yet been made.The construction of a railway from l ake Lefroy to Wid-gientoollhii, a distance of about ten miles, will also have to be undertaken under a joint arrangement between the C om-pany and the Government.Mr. Charsley today he’ further discussions with the Minister fcr Industrial Development and Railways. The detailed stud;es of the technical. financial, transport and cc onotnic factors are being under taken with a view to arriving l at a firm agreement with the Government within the next 2 months.Mr. Court suid that in assessing the transpott requirements for the Lake Lefroy project, the requirements of other exporters, such as Western Mining Corporation for the Kam-balda concentrates and Kavens-thorpc Copper N L.. as well as C.B.H. and the importers of phosphate and sulphur, will be taken into account.D.
