Director of Norseman Gold Mines N.I .. today amplified the comments made by his Chairman at the Com-puny\ Annual General meeting held in Adelaide on February .*rj. i I . company has reached agreement with Sumitomo Sh«»-ji Kaisha Ltd. on a joint venture The majority interest of 515* will be held by the Australian company.The project is largely dcpcn dent on transport economies. Initially the export tonnages, planned to commence in the second h ilt of I96K. would be in the order of 2(K).(KMI tons, but these are expected to rise to over 500.000 tons b 1970 and possibly increasing later. Mr Charslcy said that progress has been made in his discussions with the Western Australian Government regarding rail and port facilities, including the connection of the present Fsperancc railway line to the land-backed wharf at Fsperancc Provision was made in the wharf for this during its construction. although the connection has not yet been made.The construction of a railway from l ake Lefroy to Wid-giemoollha, a distance of about ten miles, will also have to be undertaken under a joint arrangement between the C ompany and the Government.Mr. Charslcy today hr’ further discussions with the Minister fcr Industrial Development and Railways.
