Bell, Sanitary.A PATRIOTIC MEETING.A representative and enthusiastic meeting was held in the Agricultural Hall on Tuesday evening, February 6. The reeve, Mr. John Evans, presided, and a large numlier of citizens were present. The meeting was opened by prayer by the Rev. Mr. Leakey.On Mr. James Maitland Dougal lie ing called upon to state the objects of the meeting, he said that a number of prominent citizens had suggested that this district should undertake to equip a number of men for service in South Africa as other parts of the province were doing. The loud applause following this statement showed that all present were in hearty sympathy with the movement. Continuing, the speaker stated that at the request of several gentlemen ho had telegraphed an offer to Hon. Mr. Semlin, who had answered with the following telegram: “Still awaiting reply from Ottawa. If B. C. corps is accepted will keep your loyal offer in mind. C. A. Sbmliv.”Mr. W. H. EJkinton then moved that lists be prepared and the district canvassed to learn what amount could be raised. The motion was dulyseconded and, after tomg very fully discussed, was pastedMessrs.
