Death or Mr. Schetky.—The death i3 announced of Mr. John Christian Schetky, marine painter, in his ninety sixth year. He was the contemporary at the High School of Edinburgh of Walter Scott, Lord Brougham, Leonard and FranciB Horner, and many others afterward* the great men of their day. In after life Sir Walter and he were intimate friends. Mr. Schetkywas for many years Professor of Drawing at the Royal Military College at Marlow (now Sandhurst), and he subsequently held for twenty-five years a similar appointment at the Royal Naval College, Portsmouth, and at the dissolution of the college in 1837 he was appointed professor at the Hon. East India Company’s College,Addiscombe, where he closed his public career by retirement in 1855.
