Springfield Greenwood and Marionville remained tied atop the Midwest Conference stan dings with identical 90 loop ledgers following victories Tuesday night. The host Bluejays found tougher going before turning back upset-minded Greenfield, 50-46, while Marionville’s Comets never trailed at Sar coxie en route to a 63-52 verdict. In other conference games, Liberal decker Miller, 94-80, Dadeville manhandled host Lockwood, 71-56, host Stockton mauled the Jasper Eagles, 83-62 and Pierce decked Golden City, 58-49. Greenwood was forced to turn back a late Wildcat rally. The hosts moved on top, 12-8, at the end of the opening stanza before the Wildcats pulled to within a point at the intermission, 26-25. After three periods, the Bluejays moved out to a 38-33 advantage. Pacing Greenwood, now 18-5 for the season, were Jeff Felton with 14 points and John Renner and Greg Bonham with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Game honors went to Greenfield's Bill Andrews with 24 points. Green field fell to 3-7 against loop foes. Greenwood also won the preliminary “‘B” game, 44-37. At Sarcoxie, Marionville moved in front, 17-11, at the end of the first period then saw the host Bears to trim the deficit by two at halftime, 28-24. The Comets led 44-38 going into the final eight minutes of play. Greg McCord and Jimmy White paced the winning effort with 25 and 21 points, respec tively. Game scoring honors, however, went to 6-6 senior Sar coxie pivot Danny Kleeman with 28. The Comets are 15-2 overall this season while the Bears fell to 9-8-6-3 against league op position. Marionville won the junior varsity tussle, 56-36. At Lockwood, all five Bearcat starters tallied in double figures. Rick Dodson led the way with 21, followed by Kenny Toler 14, Rex Glaze 12 and Mark Cowan and Jack Freeze with 11 each. Game honors went to Lockwood's Perry Finley with 34 counters. Dadeville was never threatened en route to their six th loop win in nine outings and their 15th season victory in 21 starts. The winners enjoyed a 39-20 halftime spread. Lockwood fell to 6-3 in the league and 12-9 overall. Lockwood salvaged the preliminary junior varsity con test, 38-23. At Stockton, the host Tigers remained a game behind the league leaders as Garry Ro binson and Doug Sunde totaled 18 points each. The victory up ped Stockton’s loop record to 8- 1. They are 15-6 for the season. Stockton enjoyed a 45-26 half time lead over the Eagles of Gary Keeling, now 5-13 for the season and 2-7 against league opposition. Harold Snowden paced Pierce City’s winning effort with 20 points. Gary Pierce added 16 to the cause. They now sport a 3-4 league mark and are 7-9 for the year. The loss dropped Golden City to 5-15 and 0-9. Les LaFon led the visitors with 15 points while Dennis Cor nish and Buddy Probert added 12 and 11 markers, respec tively. Golden City moved out to a 15- 14 first-period advantage, only to see the host Eagles come back for a 28-27 halftime edge. After three periods, Pierce City led, 39, 37. At Miller, Liberal’s Gary Fast led the way with 36 points. Dan Dickey added 21 points to the cause. High for Miller were Kris Johnson with 24 markers and Rex Boydston with 20. Liberal never trailed in the game, holding a 50-32 halftime advantage. The victory improved Liberal’s league ledger to 34 and they are 5-13 for the season. Miller fell to 2-7 and 2-15. Miller salvaged the jayvee contest, 73-62. Individual scoring: Greenfield (46) — Andrews 24, Reeves 1, Hutchman 7, Wilson 2, Sullivan and Mc Neel 12.
