By PAUL SIMPKINS A former Dublin woman and three out-of-state. Marines were killed in a two-car crash Sunday night on Route 100 in Wythe County, lured in the crash. Mrs. Sherry Farris Lewis, 21, of Route 114, Montgomery Coun ty, died in the 10:30 p.m. col lison. Also Killed In the crash was one of six Marines in a car headed for Camp Lejeune, N.C. He was identified as Randall Lloyd Marks,22, of Gallon, Ohio. Two other Marines in that car died about an hour after the crash. William Harold Smith, 19,, of McHenry, Jr., and Dennis Eugene Lampe, 21, of Ames, Iowa, died at Pulaski General Hospital spot after the crash. Mrs. Lewis husband, Danny Lewis, and their daughter, Chris tina, were Injured when their car collided with the Marines’ vehicle. They are in critical condition in Pulaski General Hos pital. Marines Injured but not,ddlled in the crash’ were identified as Richard Wampler, 18, Galion, Ohio; .Carl Chamberlin, 20, Circleville, Ohio, and Marvin Martin, 19, Columbus, Ohio. Their conditions are listed as fair by a Pulaski General Hos pital spokesman, State Trooper K. D. Sexton of Wythe County said the car carry ing, the Marines swerved into the opposite lane and was struck on the side ‘by the northbound Lewis car. 2 The Marines, returning from visits to their homes, were traveling south in a 1969 compact sports car. It was raining and the road was slick, Trooper Sexton said ‘The care were’ crumpled ‘by the crash, one witness said. An other was quoted as saying, They were lucky that anybody got out alive.’ Investigation of the cause of the crash is continuing today. Mrs. Lewiss survived by her husband and daughter of Montgomery County; her parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Farris of Dublin, and two sisters, Mrs. Mery Lee Phillips of Dugspur and Mrs. Anna Lou Perdue,of Dublin. Her body will remain at Strick ter’s Funeral Home in Pulaski pending arrangements.
