Remains of Well-Known Wom an Laid to Rest Yesterday at Braidwood. ‘Braidwood, Fed. 9.—The funeral of Mrs. Michael Mahon, Sr. of this place, was held from her late home to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, where services were con ducted by the pastor, Rev. P. J. Hen nessy, assisted by the choir, with beautiful and appropriate music. The remains were laid beside those of her husband, Alderman Michael Mahon, Jr., who preceded her to the Great Beyond nearly a year ago. The pall bearers were all friends of the family: H..L. Mulligan, Mich ael Sullivan, Jas, Hughes, Edward Flynn, Jas, Dillon and Francis Burns. Although the weather was very se vere, scores of neighbors, relatives, and out-of-town friends formed a sorrowful cortege, bearing the remains of this kindly woman to its last rest ing place, Obituary. Mrs... Margaret Henry Mahon was born in the village of Kilkellie, County Mayo, Ireland, in 1845, and passed away a the home of a daughter in Chicago, February 5, 1914. In 1865 she was united in marriage to Michael Mahon, who was a native of the same village. In 1870, believ ing that they could do better in Amer icago, they with their little ones, left the old country and landing in Amer ica, finally settled in Braidwood, where they have since resided. Ten children blessed their home, al of whom survive except one son, Thom as, who passed away several years ‘ago. They are: Mrs. Anthony Gal- Mra Geo, Jack, Chicago; Mrs. John — Westville,’ Jr.; Mrs. aergenon, Juliet; Mrs. Lizzie Van South ,Dakota; “Mrs.” Winnie Van Chicago; Mrs. Geo. Ubrick, Dwight; Mrs. Katheryn Murphy, of Braidwood, and an only son, Michael, of Marseilles, Ill. There are also a number of grandchildren. _ Mrs. Mahon was a devoted wife and Mother and a good neighbor and will be greatly missed in her family and among a large circle of friends. ‘Miss Deina Holm, of Gardner, was a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Patterson for a few days. Miss Josephine Stewart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Stewart, of Min neapolis, former residents of this place, and John Mitchell, of Ohio, are guests at the home of Mr.and Mrs. G.M. Stewart, Adam Stewart, and other friends, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McGrath, who have been guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Keenan, returned to their homes — in Symerton yesterday, after a pleasant visit. Mrs. John M. Steen, of Chicago, Way. called here by the illness of her sister, Mrs. Emma Hynes.
