It is usually enough to criticise a public officer for the wrongful acts, if any he commits and to pass over his “acts of omission.'’ Mayor Saunders has generally performed the duties of his office in a satisfactory manner but one of the greatest if not the greatest disgraces of his administration has been his failure to suppress the sale of the Sunday Sun. Th it this should be done for the good of the community no one with any degree of honesty or sense of justice will deny.Let Mayor Peaslee take the step he has in contemplation and he will not only perform his duty but will receive the plaudits of every good man and woman in the city of Dubuque. He should do this because it is light but in doing it he will find It the most popular act done by any mayor for years.
