We hear the new owners come from New Jersey. _ Seaver Miller, an ardent promoter of the Adirondacks although he has lived in Massachusetts for many years, has written another article about “Growing Up in ‘the Adirondacks” for the Southbridge Evening News. In it he recalls how wood was cut in this area before the turn of the century and ‘recounts a couple of outings ‘made in the company of Frank Robarge and Earl Haselton. In one, he fell through the ice into MacKenzie Pond, but the boys destroyed the evidence ‘by drying young Seaver's ‘clothes, and never told’ their parents about the incident. “In remembrance of the ‘Adirondack country, 70 years ago, it was a paradise for Shays, a place where boys grew quickly into self-reliant men, to meet the challenges with life’s lessons, learned at the hand of mother nature and in perilous situations, ensconsed in the primitive beauty of forest clad mountains and the picturesque lakes and streams that God had created. We are indebted to Mr. and Mrs. Austin Gowan for the copy of the article. Mr. Rice’s address is now 97 Everett St., Southbridge, Mass,1550.
