A woman inspector of bakeries was advocated by Health Officer Totman in an address last night before the Merchant Bakers Exchange at the an nual dinner at A. V. Altmann’s res taurant. In pointing out the abso lute necessity for cleanliness Dr. Tot man said that a baker need not have his bakeshop decorated with marble or tile floors, but that it must be clean. The idea of a woman inspector was also favored by James Cahill of Cahill Brothers. His suggestion was that the appointee be either the wife or daughter of a baker. The following members and their wives were present: James Cahill, John Ramsey, Robert Anderson, H. C. Bowker, M. J. Murphy, Valentine Lorenz, G. A. Hagaman, Valentine Lorenz, G. A. Schiller and J. F. Rausch. Mr. Ramsey acted as toastmaster and called upon each member present for remarks.
