At each annual meeting thereafter, there shall an election be, held to elect directors to succeed those whose term of office has expired.ARTICLE III.The directors shall elect from their number a president, secretary and treasurer who shall hold office for one year.ARTICLE IV.It shall be the duty of the president to preside at all meetings and see that the work ordered by directors is carried out and call meetings of directors when necessary.ARTICLE V,The duty of the secretary shall be to conduct all correspondencejjand to keep the records of the association .and read at each meeting a report of the work done at each preceding meeting.ARTICLE VI.The treasurer shall keep the funds of the association, making an annual report of all moneys received and disbursed and to pay all orders drawn on him by the president, verified by the secretary and give a bond satisfactory to the directors.ARTICLE VII.This coustitution can be amended by a two-thirds vote of the members present at any annual meeting.By-Lawn.ARTICLE 1.Sec. 1. Any person may become a member of this association by paying the sum of one dollar, and the further Bum of not exceedingone dollar per. year thereafter.Sec. 2. All moneys paid into the associationshall be expended in improvement of the lots of members of said association, except ashereinafter stated.Sec. 3. The board of directors may at any time, provided there is sufficient funds in the treasury, direct any improvements on lots in said cemetery.ARTICLE 2.SEC. 1. It shall be the duty of the directors tofix the amount of the treasurer's bond,and approve the same and have full power to decideon what work shall be done on said cemetery, and instruct the officers having said work incharge,how and when said work shall be done.Sec. 2. They shall fix the amount of the assessments of members, “the same not to exceed one dollar” as they shall deem necessary each year to keep up the expenses of said association and decide all questions that may arise.Sec. 3. It shall take three directors to constitute a quorum to do business at any meeting.ARTICLE 3.Sec, 1. The president shall be the executive officer to carry out the instructions of directors and see that the work is done as order** ed unless otherwise provided for.Sec. 2. The secretary shall collect all money belonging to the association and turn the same over to the treasurer and shall give bond satisfactory to the directors.Sec. 3. The annual meeting of this association shall be held the first Monday in May, due notice of which shall be given all members by the secretary.Sec. 4. The first annual meeting shall be held on the first Monday in May, 1897.Sec. 5. All necessary expenses of said association shall be drawn out of the funds.ARTICLE 4.Sec. 1. This association at an annual meeting can annul or change any or all of the bylaws by a majority vote.The directors of said association are J. Bullock, C. H. Suydatn, A. P. Gilliland, W. S. Sperry and H. E. Lovejoy, M. D. The board of directors elected the iollow-ingoffieers: C. il.Snydam, president; J. Bullock, secretary; A. P. Gilliland, treasurer .NOTICK.Anyone owning lots in the Rippey cemetery wishing to have the weeds and grass kept cut and lot kept in repair can have the same done for the sum of one dollar, or if parties wish to have their lots graded they can have the same done for two do1-lara. What is the weather clerk up to. Is this last fall, summer before last, next spring, the present winter or a combination of the blamed lot.F. E. Harmon of the firm of Harmon Bros, baa been in Des Moines the past week purchasing buggy and agricultural implements for the spring trade. They have now the 6nest line and latest patterns of the above mentioned goods ever brought to Rippey.Died, James Edwards at Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Edwards was born and raided in England but has spent many years in this country, being an old and highly respected citizen of this vicinity. The funeral occurred from the Methodist church at Angus and the remains were interred at the Rippey Cemetery.F. M. Gray of Yale, drove over last Monday to see the famous gas well spoken of in last week’s Souvenir. If after further investigation and prospecting the well proves a success he will probably lay pipes to Des Moines and settle the gas controversy there by supplying the people of that magnificent city with the subtile fluid free of all cost.
