HOCKVILL1.—Henry Bind hammer, one of the rep-; resentatives from the town of Vernon in , the general assembly, died at his home ! on Saturday last. He had been ill for ' some time past and unable to take hia | seat in the house during the session. Hr. Bindhasnmer waa a native of Germany, 54 years of age, but had resided in this country many years. He was highly esteemed by his fellow townsmen and his popularity was shown by the large vote he received at the last election. An election to choose his successor will be held next Monday, the law making it mandatory, otherwise the people would probably prefer to let matter rest as it is. Had Mr. B. lived uutil the 7th inst. no election oould have been called. The defeated candidates in November were O. O. Wost and C. Fitten, and there is talk of making the issue between these.
