HOCKVILLt;.—Henry Bindhammer, one of the rep-, resentatives from the town of Vernon in , the general assembly, died at hifl home ! on Saturday last. He hud been ill for ' some time paat and unable to take his | seat in the house during the session. Hr. ) Bindhammer was a native of Germany, 54 years of age, but had resided in this country many years. He was highly esteemed | by his fellow townsmen and his popularity was shown by the large vote he receiv-| ea at the last election. An election to I choose his successor will be held next Monday, the law making it mandatory, otherwise the people would probably prefer to let matter rest as it is. Had Mr. B. lived until the 7th inst. no election oould have been, called. The defeated candidates in November were O. O. West and C. Fitten, and there is talk of making the issne between these.
